To those of you who have helped support our program already this year through previous fundraising efforts or on our recent WWU Give Day, Thank you for all you have done. Your support with us goes a long way in enhancing the lives of our student-athletes.
Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 to overall enhance our program.
There are many aspects to enhancing our program. I feel one of the most important pieces to making the post season is scheduling. Over the past 4 years we have scheduled the best teams in the West Region. Our region is now combined with the South-Central region to create a Super Region. This means we need to travel further to play the best competition in that region as well, so we can have the best opportunity for post season play. In order to schedule these games and give our players the best opportunity to make the post season we need to increase our team travel budget. This will help in making it a level playing field with the other top teams in our new Super Region.
Other aspects that continually need enhancing to provide our players with the best experience possible while being a Viking are: providing our players with proper training gear to train in all elements of weather, providing our players with proper nutrition for pre and post-game so they can be as prepared as possible to compete and to continually enhance Harrington Field, which I feel has the potential to be the best training and playing facility in all of D2 soccer. I feel these are crucial pieces for improving our program on a yearly basis and is vital in order to compete against the best Div. II teams in the region and country.
Our student-athletes will directly benefit from your donation. Enhancing our players experience at Western is the end goal and we need your help to make it happen. It is you -- our family, friends, alumni, and supporters-- who make this opportunity different, unique and memorable for our players.
