WWU Wind Symphony in Shanghai!

The Western Washington Wind Symphony has been invited to serve as the featured ensemble for the 2016 Music in the Summer Air Festival in Shanghai, China!

Who we are: The WWU Wind Symphony is a select group of Western's finest musicians who perform literature from the standard wind band repertoire as well as music from some of today's best living composers.

Why are we raising $: The Shanghai conservatory has invited Western's Wind Symphony to play at the prestigious MISA Festival in Shanghai, China. The Chinese Government is paying for the ensemble, a group of 42 students, to stay in the hotel and is covering all their expenses while we are there - all we have to do is get ourselves and our instruments there!

This is a once in a lifetime experience for the students and will also bring the American model of music education to an audience that is very eager to see programs emulated in China. It is an honor that they are looking to Western as one of the leaders in this area that they want to learn from!
