WWU Summer Youth Theatre Institute

WWU Summer Youth Theatre Institute is asking for your help to facilitate a learning experience for all its teachers and youth participants in a working practicum of educational dramatic arts theory. The program provides a space where undergraduates are able to learn theory and apply and embody the ideas they have studied in class. Youth participants are instructed by these same undergraduates through dramatic workshops, coaching, directing, and mentorship.

Why the arts? Research has shown that arts education is closely linked to almost everything we as a nation say we want for our children and demand from our schools: academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement and equitable opportunity. Involvement int the arts is associated with gains in math, reading cognitive ability, verbal skills and critical thinking. Recent studies have concluded that the  creativity and innovation used utilized in the artistic process will be highly valued by future employers.

What will it take? 3,000 by June 8, 2016. Gifts of every size are encouraged and we are reaching out to you to ask that you consider making one that is meaningful to your experience with the arts. Once we raise 3,000 we will be able to support the program for the summer of 2016.

What happens if we raise more? SYTI will be able to continue summer of 2017 and hopefully many summers after that.

How you can help

Join us in making a personally significant gift by participating in our crowd funding campaign. A gift of any amount helps! After you make your gift, please help in attaining our milestones by reaching out to any supporters of the arts that you know and ask them to participate. We look forward to celebrating with you once we reach our goal. Thank you!
