Occam's Razor is Western's undergraduate academic journal. The idea was first conceived in 2009 when two students realized that there was no medium available for WWU undergraduates to publish their academic work. OR founder Chris Crow had produced a publication-worthy paper and was disappointed by the absence of scholarly work being shared with a broader campus audience. From this general concern arose the stark realization that the issue extended to all undergraduates; how could one use their classwork to further discussions of academia within the greater WWU community? How could one stand out from other graduates in their field? What does one do with an exceptional paper and countless hours of research after the grades are posted? The answer was simple: Occam’s Razor.
The primary purpose of this crowdfunding campaign is to allow us the opportunity to host a successful Volume 7 Release Party, which will act as a catalyst for future community, alumni, and student support. Secondly, funds will go toward creating large, high-quality posters depicting the content of each published piece, offering an alternative, more digestible format for learning about the research in other disciplines. These posters will be displayed at our release party, as well as other events during WWU Scholars Week (May 15-19). Lastly, any remaining money will be used to increase the page count of Volume 8 to maximize the number of students benefited by the journal.
We are so thankful for your support. We will update this page with details of our release party once available and hope to see you there!
