Send WWU Quidditch Team 2020 to Regional Tournament!

Help Send WWU Quidditch to the US Quidditch Regional Championship!

The Western Washington Wyverns, WWU's own quidditch team, will be heading to the Regional Championship on February 22nd and 23rd, and we need your help to attend! We will travel to Livermore, California along with teams from the Western side of the US to see if we can claim a spot in the National Championships in April.

Quidditch (the sport from Harry Potter) has been played by muggles since 2005 when the first-ever quidditch game was played at Middlebury College in Vermont. Ever since, it has evolved into an international sport with 11 World Cups, many different leagues, and 13 National Championships in the US after this year. The game is played almost exactly the same as in the books, with the exception that the players have to do all of the leg work rather than their brooms. Quidditch is a very sportsmanlike sport, with all teams supporting their opponents on and off the pitch. Quidditch is also one of the only completely gender-inclusive sports with players of any gender being able to compete on each team.

The Wyverns are extremely excited to attend this year's regional competition. We had a great time attending last year and we became much closer as a team, but we were unfortunately not able to move on to nationals. That just means that we are even more excited to attend this year and give it our best shot! Going to this tournament aids our team by:

  1. Allowing us to compete against a broader variety of teams, increasing our skill levels and our perspective
  2. Helping us bond as a team while driving a total of 30 hours and having many new experiences together
  3. Helping us play a sport we love and compete at the highest level we can
  4. Allowing us to make connections with teams and players that we have not before (quidditch is a community as much as it is a sport)
  5. Helping us have our chance at snagging a spot in the National tournament in April!

Transporting a 10-15 person quidditch team to California and back in one weekend is a big task, but with your help, we can do it! We are raising money for our travel expenses, which includes renting two vans and purchasing gas, as well as hotel rooms for two nights. If our goal is reached, our entire trip will be paid for. Thank you in advance for your contributions, and remember to share this using the links above!
