WWU Values Families of WWU Students!!
Parents & Families - we are so thrilled your student chose WWU!
The Parents Program fund was created by WWU families to provide much needed support for career services, outreach programs, and events that impact students, alumni, parents, and the greater community. Our goal is to help students with college life from beginning to end, starting with our orientation sessions and finishing with our quarterly networking events and career fairs through the career services center. We build leadership opportunities and community through events such as Fall Family Weekend and Back to Bellingham Alumni and Family Weekend. Gifts to the Parents Program ensure current student and alumni success. Your gift to the Parents Program also helps us keep in touch with WWU families through newsletters, family weekends and other events to help keep parents and families engaged and informed.
Gifts to the Parent’s Fund are an investment in your student and their peers, providing resources for:
WWU’s Counseling Center to help students “choose to flourish” through stress management workshops and facilitated support groups for students from all backgrounds.
An emergency fund to help students in crisis stay in school
Academic advising, tutoring and career coaching to help students choose a major that suits their talents and interests, and help them graduate on-time.
Career preparation activities such as job fairs, graduate school fairs, employer visits and internship connections.
Leadership activities to build the soft skills that are so attractive to employers.
Parent outreach and activities such as Fall Family Weekend to keep you involved and connected. This year will be virtual - see below!
You can also choose to earmark your gift for your child’s major or favorite team, club or program on campus.
Your gift in addition to the many other ways you have invested in your child’s education is truly transformational.
If every family gave just $50 we’d have nearly one million dollars to dedicate to student success! State and tuition dollars do A LOT but they don’t do it all. It’s because of WWU alumni, parents and friends that Western attracts national attention and investment.
The Western Fund
The Western Fund is the University’s general unrestricted fund that the President uses as critical needs arise, and to further the overarching University mission.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Our friendly team of Western student Phonathon Callers will begin dialing on October 12th and will continue calling throughout the month to share more information and ask for your support.
You can give to other WWU departments, programs, teams, clubs or scholarships or sign up for recurring payments at www.wwu.edu/give or call (360) 650-3027 to make a gift over the phone or ask any questions you might have!
Checks payable to the WWU Foundation can be sent to MS 9034, 516 High Street, Bellingham, WA 98225. Please indicate Parent Annual Fund Drive or the area you’d like to support on the memo line of your check.

Fall Family Weekend
We are so excited to present our annual Fall Family Weekend program and invite you to explore, connect, and have some fun through our virtual format. While we aren’t able to meet in person this year, we’re still offering events and resources to link you and your family more deeply with the Western community.
The students, faculty and staff at Western have energetically worked on creating events that highlight our beautiful campus, local community, and greater geography. We have live and recorded events that you can access from the comfort of your home, while still creating a great shared experience. Check out the cooking demos, explore research on the Salish Sea, navigate a self-guided tour of campus or our renowned outdoor sculpture collection, or celebrate Huxley College of the Environment’s 50th anniversary by learning more about their research and real-world applications. Looking for self-care resources? Advice on navigating academically during these unique times? Just want to hang out and carve a pumpkin? Great! Don’t miss the Live Events section of the website for details!
We know that there are many different definitions of “family”, and we hope you, and those who are family to you, will join us to explore, connect, have fun, and be inspired. We are excited to share this time with you and your family. Have a great weekend!
