NWFASA Conference 2018

The WWU Filipino-American Student Association will be hosting the 23rd annual Northwest Filipino American Student Alliance (NWFASA) conference on April 13, 2018 to April 15, 2018.

Our theme for the 23rd Annual NWFASA Conference is TAHANAN: Taking Action Here And Now, Abroad and the Northwest. “Recognizing the Filipino diaspora as we call the Philippines and the Northwest home, NWFASA strives to move forward as an alliance. Inspired by grassroots movements, we plan to take action through educating and empowering youth, and advocating for the advancement of Filipino-Americans in society."

Formerly known as the Washington State Filipino American Student Alliance, the Northwest Filipino American Student Alliance was established in 1995 by Filipino student organizations from Washington universities. The Alliance has grown to over 17 member organizations from different campuses in Washington and Oregon. In 2003, the Alliance was renamed to include Oregon, as the Northwest Filipino American Student Alliance.

NWFASA brings together the various student organizations on higher education campuses across the state of Washington and Oregon. Since 1995, the Alliance has organized a conference every year to gather Filipino-American and open-minded students for a weekend of learning, empowerment, leadership, networking, and team-building.

The conference continues to be annual, attended by more than 500 students, and has been held throughout Oregon and Washington. NWFASA’s purpose is to build a strong network and community between the organizations in order to pool resources, increase education/awareness, and provide support to current & new organizations. NWFASA’s goals are for the betterment of our Filipino-American and greater communities through education, student activism, and involvement.
